  • Anyone make a true 6 watt or brighter L.E.D. flashlight?

Reading all the battery posts has me wondering. I've got one watt lights and three watt lights(Mags with conversion bulbs) that seem decent but the three watters sure aren't three times brighter than the one watt versions. I've never cared for rechargable lights as the time required for recharging is too long if I need my light. I'd much rather have a bright light that I can simply stick new batteries in and be ready to go again.

If you are looking for a high quality yet relatively small flashlight, get your self a Surefire G-2 Nitrolon. They use 2 CR123 Lithium Ion batteries, are extremely bright (60 Lumen's), and will store for an extremely long time. Run time is approx. 20 minutes continuous.
Batteries will store for an extremely long time, are available in either 2-packs or a box of either 10 or 12. The G-2 is available in a variety of colors (OD Green, Black, Yellow, Blue) and generally runs $36.00; batteries can run from $5.00/2 (Panasonic camera batteries) to $6.25/2 (Genuine Surefire brand) and 10/12 packs of Surefire brand batteries run around $30.00 (at my local Bass Pro Shop). Note: I do not work for Surefire, I own 2 of these G-2's and am very satisfied with them and am looking to purchase more. I will also note that Surefire does make a "LED" flashlight (I believe it is the "Aviator A-2" if you really need a LED light).

    YMMV,

Thanks for the reply. I've got too many flashlights I think, last count was over a dozen, none which is quite what I want. Have Streamlights SL-20, Scorpion, Vulcan, Stinger. Four or five small one to three watt LED lights, three Maglites that have been converted to three watt LED. I like the longer burn time that LEDs provide, if only I could find one that was in the 200 plus Lumen class. The three watt Mag conversions come close, but I wish they gave a stronger beam at distance.

The latter is a semi-custom shop, reputed to be of excellent build quality but he only does them in batches so you have to get on-board before each batch.
