  • parachutist's weapons case - closing it ?

hi again - just got in my parachutist's weapons case, the kind with the felt inside that doubles as a mat. I'm having trouble intuiting the best way to close it, and haven't really looked for TMs yet. So: it seems like I want to fold up the tail (at the bottom if you use the shoulder straps) then the sides, and tuck those under the sewn-over topcover, then do the side straps, then the bottom straps. If I do the tail fold after the sides, then it forms an exposed trough and if it's raining, then moisture will more easily reach the interior. (I realize that this is meant for the field, where moisture is unavoidable, but...) So, any hints ? Also, if you've come up with some internal strapping/rigging that allows you to tie down gun, etc. I'd appreciate info

    TIA!

I bought one from Sportsmans Guide several months ago.

I think the real issue isn't that you haven't figured out the "right" way of doing it, but the fact that it is just a crappy design for anyone execpt a paratrooper.

Will probably end up using mine as a tent pole carrying bag.

I was tempted by the notion of a softcase that doubled as a mat, had shoulder straps and was cheaper than the stuff Blackhawk puts out, nevermind the real manufacturers (London Bridge or something like that has a nice case, but I don't need it for my trips to the range at whatever outrageous price they charge). Thanks all.
