• Wilderness Safepacker, pistol carry bag (update)

or holster? These caught my eye in Dillon's Blue Press sale book so I decided to give one a try. These can be worn on a belt, carried strapped to the hand, over the shoulder wit a strap, possibly many others. I guess I'll soon find out if they are worth the 50 buck price. (UPDATE) Well it came today and on first examination, I spent nearly 60 bucks on a cheap nylon purse. Compared to the Max Fatboy pack, its a real joke. As soon as I can, I will remedy the situation and get the FB.

They're not bad...if worn on a belt they look a bit silly, IMO, since you have this huge square THING on your hip. When used with the shoulder strap, they resemble nothing more than your typical manpurse, like the Maxpedition Fatboy, except you can't carry other crap like you can with the Fatboy.

Where can I look at one of these, Tim? I confess to being a gearaholic! Never mind, found them at your site. These come built for lefties? If they do, just as soon as I can, I WILL own one of those! Me Like! I planned on using the Safepacker while ATV'ing and other outdoor stuff, wish I'd seen your's first, lots more carry room.

I actually like the Safepacker.
I wear it on my belt at 2 O'Clock and it is mostly covered by a vest.

This way it does not call attention to itself.

PS: It also works well on the hip belt of my backpack.

I AM SO sorry for taking this long to get back with you....I completely missed this thread for...a couple months?? my bad.

Anyway, the Safepacker is good for what it is....a non-holster-looking holster. Don't try to carry anything else, because that's not what it's for. It's durable, protects the gun well and doesn't scream 'gun'. However the larger sizes for full-size handguns appear they can be awkward.

The Fatboy S-type (which goes on the left side) is a different animal designed to be more a tactical manbag than a holster. I use one to carry all my PracTac related business stuff during the day. Since AZ is an open carry state and I also have a CCW, I don't carry in the Fatboy unless I have to.

I had a Safepacker at one time. I foud it to be just a square fabric box that could only hold a pistol.
I found the fanny pack concealed carry to be more useful and less noticable by others.

A SafePacker fits in a brief case nicer than a lumpy fanny pack (which I use also). At church, it looks like a tactical bible bag.

I don't hook it to my belt; just hold it or put it in the briefcase.

I really hate off-body carry, however.

I picked up two safepackers (L-H for me, R-H for Mrs. TimW). They're OK..not a preferred mode of carry at all. We got them to put them to the side of the bed, using the flap between the mattresses to hold the gun next to the bed. Reach down, and voila!
