Love my EOTech as well, but have run out the batteries a few times. I'd like to try an Aimpoint. The Chinese knock offs work fine out of the box usually, but the question is for how long? In my experience, Chinese stuff looks good for about a month and then you throw it away. I wouldn't trust my life with it.

I love my EO Tech holographic sight. I still have the original AA batteries in it that was included and probably have a couple hundred hours on them.

It is the highest drain of all battery operated holosights, but with a battery life of 1,000 hours using lithium and 300+ with alkaline I'm not complaining a bit. The current draw is higher because the reticle is just that, and not just a plain 1-4 MOA dot.

I'm from an era where flashlight batteries lasted 10 hours if you were lucky and they were almost always dead when you needed them or leaked all over the insides.

300+ hours is enough for me. If you need a few thousand hours or up to 50,000 hours look elsewhere.

I am looking into some of these new gizmos. I have a lot of questions about power consumption, trade offs with features ETC. The prices are coming down but right now I want a better function than just a dot.

There are many versions of Aimpoint...plus the picture is misleading, in reality when you have your other eye open it fills in the part of the picture that is blocked by the site, plus a small body sight like the Aimpoint T1/T2/H1 has a much better glass-to-rim ratio than something like an Aimpoint M2.

Eotech sucks batteries, Trijicon I've not owned, most of their stuff is out of my price range. Aimpoints I've used and for the money I don't think there are better. I've seen the Aimpoint Pro Patrol sight under 400 bucks, they are good enough for me to trust my life using them. They've been around long enough to have a good reputation when used for real world survival.

    MSE AQC-2C REFLEX SIGHT

On my hunt for my first non-BU sights, i stumbled upon the video below which i thought would be very helpful. It compares three optics i was interested in aimpoint, eotech and trijcon. It also reviews a fourth that i have no experience with whatsoever. I was pretty excited aout the video but after watching it i feel that it might have been a little biased towards the MSE sights. Which is why i've come to my fellow falfilers. Anyone have any experience with these optics?
