Anyone bought a paracord belt?

I ordered a paracord belt, mainly for hiking and casual wear. Any experience with one? Anyone tried one with a holster?

I'd like to try to make one. I generally wear a western style cord belt that I got at walmart or something. I like the idea of having 50 ft of cord around my waist in in emergency. I like the idea of a paracord sling even more...

I bought one or two Wal-Mart belts. 10 years ago, they actually weren't God awful. The last one I bought, about two years ago, actually fell apart when I took it out of the bag. The buckle had been glued on, and the glue had come off. I never even put it on. Any company that thinks glue is a good way to attach a belt buckle, is not going to get my $$$.

There is saving money, and there is throwing money away. Buying clothes at Wal-Mart falls into the second category. The stuff is cheap, looks cheap, and falls apart almost immediately. Same with shorts, I bought two pairs there which ripped within a week due to the cheap threads used. Never again.

Well I ordered the paracord belt, so I'll let you know how it goes. You can definitely get stuff cheaper at Wal-Mart, if you don't mind your belt falling apart while you are at a social gathering (assuming it lasts that long), or looking like a guy with a $5 dollar belt. You can spot Chinese leather from a mile off if you know what to look for.

But yeah the whole idea of going out hiking with a supply of paracord on your body is definitely the selling point. Or, as I live in a rural area, the idea of just driving to town with some paracord on me is a good idea. You never know what is going to happen around these parts.

I have a few of the Wal mart cord belts. They definitely have a Western association to them. I have a black one with a bras CS repro buckle on it, as well as a black and grey belt with the plain silver buckle it came with. Belt buckles can be a big deal in some places, but I like a functional buckle with some heft on good flexible belt that can be used as a weapon if needed.

I don't know how well the cord would be after getting unwoven. I have an old belt that the tip came off of. I was going to find/make a new tip for it, but that hasn't happened in the 3 years it's been hanging broken in my closet. I think I'll just unweave it and get a before and after measurement of the belt and cord.

Hey Shark, I've finally got back here to tell you about the paracord belts I found.

I noticed my post are gone, don't know why.

Anyway, I checked at 3 stores, and called 2 others.
Mostly western stores, and Atwoods farm store near me.

The belts I saw were pretty flimsy on the cheaper belts.
The higher end, and by that I mean, the tighter weaved ones were above 40.00+ with a double hook for the buckle.
Cheaper ones were 19.00+ with single hook buckle.

The guy I thought that made them has been ill over the past few months, and pretty much quit any leather work, and weaving para belts.
He said he'd try to go back to work later in summer.

The one I bought from Amazon is fantastic. I've been wearing it for a month straight and have no complaints at all. It's actually worked better than a leather belt.

That said, it wasn't a cheap one. It cost a $100 bucks, supposedly because of the tight weave and the titanium belt buckle. I don't know if it's worth $100 bucks, but it does work really well.
