I'm a jacket and a boot freak. I love the best of the best and will save and scrimp if I have to to have the best. I don't like wasting my money and I always make sure it buys more than a salesman's hot air.

I also believe in buying the best I can afford and not having to buy it twice. ::

Having said all of that, has anyone here ever seen or heard of Kitanica tactical jackets? I'm not a high-speed, low-drag operator of any sort, unless you're talking about flying, and that requires a whole different type of jacket.

They seem to have been making jackets and other uber-Tactical clothing for at least the last three years, maybe longer. Their gear gets top reviews from leading testers and other 'operator' type outfits, as well as from regular people like me.

Of course, no one is going to admit they threw away $500 or $600 on a jacket only to find out it's a POS.

They do guarantee their workmanship and hardware for life, and 1000 Cordura nylon is some pretty tough stuff.

I'd be interested in anyone having a look at this web site and telling me what you think after looking over the products a bit.

I have my eye on the Mk I which is to the link I provided. THere are three other jackets in their line too. If the MkIV had the side hand warmer pockets, it would have been a tougher call.

Look up "Adams Jacket" on google.
If I had the $600 I'd buy their green verson, the Mark-IV.



They are not tactical they are motorcycle jackets with rib and spine padding.

After reading about Adam and seeing videos about him and his attention to detail, I'd guess that the jackets are quality or he wouldn't have one.

I was leaning toward the above jacket you posted, but it has no hand pockets on the sides and doesn't come in sage.

I do like the rifle padding on the shoulder and the front pockets.

I don't really get the straps on the front. I think the zipper with well placed snaps are just as good.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes small Molle pouches or pistol mag carriers in this sage green color?

Everywhere I've looked I have only found OD.

Makes me want to buy the black MK1 and be done with it. I can find anything in black.

Their prices are high but they offer more colors.

I've eliminated the sage, or what they call 'foilage'. It's down to black or coyote. All of my flight clothing is sage. I'm rather sick of looking at the color really.

It's probably going to be black. It just blends in better and goes with anything.







Which one do you guys like or which one would you buy if you were to get one?

This thing is really stiff. Having said that, it still allows for full movement of your arms due to the bi-swing back. It also keeps the sleeves from riding up your wrists. I hate that in a coat or jacket.

It's will take some time to break in this Cordura. I didn't realize 1000 denier Cordura is this stiff. It wears like iron though and is doubled on the wrist cuffs, shoulders and elbows. I don't think anything will be getting through those three areas. And probably not the rest of it either.

The pockets are ample and the Walther PP series will all fit in either the inside or outside pockets. The P99 and P5 will both fit in the outside pockets with ease and without printing.

The shoulder pocket is too small for my phone, but I expected that having currently the largest phone on the market with the HTC One Max. If my eyes weren't so crappy I could do with a smaller phone, but I don't always have my glasses.

A normal size smart phone or any dumb phone will fit with room to spare for a pack of smokes.

The collar is high, soft, and padded and closes up over your chin and ears to keep the wind off of you. The waist is adjustable too to keep drafts out. I took it in maybe a 1/2" on each side. I'm wearing it with a Cabela's Polartec fleece liner for now, but will probably order the proper liner next season.

It was 12°F for a high here today and Lisl and I went for a walk wearing a long underwear top, turtleneck sweater and a moleskin overshirt. Plenty warm and didn't feel one knot of wind anywhere except my head. I'm used to wearing a hood, so I'll have to wear a warmer cap for days like today.

I found out that the buckles are there for closing the jacket without zipping it up. It provides for adequate ventilation on warmer days, and also allows direct access to the interior pockets for retrieving your handgun if needed.

I haven't tried out the epaulet flashlight holder, but I would have rather just seen regular snap, button, or Velcro'd full size epaulets on both shoulders. That can be remedied by the lady up the street should I decide upon it.

Overall I love it. I've been looking for a jacket/coat like this since around '08 but everything I've bought has fallen short in one area or another. Too light, too heavy, not enough pockets, lightweight material, to long, etc. This one is about perfect.

Kitanica makes some good stuff. I've never owned any of it so far, but they are on my radar for future buys. I have a bunch of TAD Gear stuff, though, and am very pleased with their gear and clothing.

Go check out the shooting coats that the high power rifle shooters use at matches such as at Camp Perry. For offhand, when you cinch up those straps and shoulder your rifle it's like leaning back on to a telephone pole.

Those straps are not adjustable. I found that they allow you to close the front of the jacket while having it unzipped. It provides for ventilation without having the entire front of the jacket open.

This thing wears like iron. I'll probably give it to my Grandson one day.
