  • Maxpedition Jumbo v. Colossus for bail-out/magazine bag

On another forum, a user was asking about the usefulness of the Maxpedition Jumbo vs. Colossus for a bail-out / mag bag. This poster has the Jumbo, but doesn't like the flap on it, being user-unfriendly. I did a side-by-side comparison, pics below.

IMO the Colossus isn't that much bigger than the Jumbo. You lose a lot of storage space with the Colossus by eliminating the external pouches, meaning you had to add MOLLE pouches and MALICE/attachment clips, which actually make it heavier than permanently attached pouches.

The Jumbo is shorter and wider, making it more magazine-friendly, since neither AK nor AR mag require the depth of the Colossus. IMO, the flap on the Colossus wasn't any more user-friendly than the Jumbo's.

The images are all red "X"'s. I am into bags and that is the way I carry and pack things.

Got them now Tim, NOW THOSE ARE BOTH NICE. GREAT Zipper, Good stitching, heavy straps, good load out and the material looks as if it won't catch or snag on the mags.

About the only thing that stands out would be the Bag-on-Bag or molle bands, I have bad luck in the weeds and brush with things getting hung up. Same reason I ditched the heat shield on the shotguns, it hangs on everything.

FWIW to me the most dangerous guy to me is the man with a "baby bag" neutral color with "Winnie the pooh" on the side = did you know guns can hide in those civilian bags? (When you see a man with one best assume he is a high threat)

Don't forget I like to Golf this way people have no IDEA I am packing an AR and going to the field for practice.

For you sports geeks imagine what a tennis bag can pack and since these do not look military and if you are dressed the civilian part, no doubt it will be hard to determine good from bad.

Actual range bag WTSHTF I will shoot first and ask questions later.

I once had a friend that had a laptop shell that when opened looked as if it was booting, it contained a mini-uzi. Funny thing he did get it stolen because the criminals thought it was a laptop.
