    Is quinine available OTC?

    Re: quinine

No longer sold in the US is my understanding. Supposedly better meds out there. The real reason? The answer is well above my pay grade.

I'm assuming that getting a scrip for it would be hard. Can one get Chinchona bark and make your own, or cultivate Chinchona trees?

That's what I get for posting while fatigued. It is no longer sold in Mexico as an OTC. I had tried a few years ago and was informed of that. The pharms weren't happy because they used to sell a decent quantity to touristas who use if for the anti muscle-cramping properties.

I have no clue as to whether you can properly cultivate the trees here, or process the medication from same.

Tonic Water still contains Quinine. Or at least the stuff in my local supermarket still sells it. Polar Brand lime is pretty good after you shake and release the pressure 3 or 4 times so that its not SO carbonated you can't drink it.
