  • How do you fully delete a program?

I've got Windows 7, but had the same issues with XP: when you delete something using 'add or remove a program' or a non-Microsoft program like Revo Uninstaller, there is inevitably left over junk that still shows up on your system.

Even if they are just empty folders or whatnot, they should be gone with a program delete, yet many times, evidence of components remain.

For example: I downloaded Avira AntiVir before changing to BitDefender. Yet I can still dig around and find mention of not only Avira but the factory installed Norton ... C:\ProgramData\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\BACKUP or \EVENTS or\ SYSSAFE. Lavasoft is still there as well.

How do I get in deep and completely get rid of these things?

The add/remove function uninstalls the program and empties the file folder
    but leaves the folder intact.

    When I was quaffing the Gatesian koolaid, I used East-Tec Erasor ( http://www.east-tec.com/consumer/eraser/index.htm ) .

It will cost you some bucks, but this is worth it.
