Today we lost Vicksburg

That was a big blow to the Confederates. We lost control of the Mississippi River. It also effectively cut the Confederacy in half isolating Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas and the overland route to Mexico important to bypassing the Yankee blockade. The siege lasted from May 18 until July 4th.

RIP brave Confederate soldiers.
