  • Howard's "Tough New National Gun Laws" - yet more evidence against.

New data proves gun laws ineffective

    (BB -hardly new...)

Independent research has once again proven that firearm death rates were declining at a steady rate well before the National Firearms Agreement (NFA) was introduced.

Published by Flinders University, the 'Firearm Injuries and Deaths Report'' clearly shows that firearm-related deaths, particularly among males, began steadily falling from 1991 - five years before the 1996 Howard's NFA!

SSAA Legislative Action’s Kate Fantinel said the latest figures, independently sourced and published by a Federal Government department, cannot be ignored by anti-gun groups who deliberately misrepresent the real effects of the NFA.

[BB, we told them this in 1992- & ignored....... as usual!]

I know that you dont have our type of Constitution but pols still need votes to win that seat in parliament. Considerate on the seats that you have a chance to win...It may that 20 years till you are able to swing an election and win the House. But you can do it.

Thanks Karl for that sage advice.
In NSW (State of) we have 2 "senators" but no Reps yet in the important "commons".

One Rep each in Vic and WA and one David Lejohnhelm sympathetic to us in Canberra.
[But he was shafted over the Adler 101 lever-12GA bans after the Sydney Siege aftermath.....you see the Gov'n't had to be "seen to be doing something" over Iranian parolee Man Monis' use of a 12GA.]

We are trying hard, but it seems very difficult to keep these seats and then get more.
If the 2million registered gun-owners in Oz [plus users] could all vote for pro-shooting-sports candidates we would be cruising...

      But they won't and don't.
