Like Australia, New Zealand puts considerable effort into managing the impacts of invasive species. However, with the rise in the pet trade and number of exotic species being transferred worldwide, countries such as New Zealand are now needing to develop new strategies to ensure they are prepared for the next potential incursion risk.

Foxes have substantial impacts on Australian wildlife. Most often, foxes are considered to impact on native wildlife through predation, but in many cases, foxes are also a direct competitor of our wildlife, as shown in a series of images (including this one) captured by Patrick Taggart, a PhD candidate from the University of Adelaide.
