Happy Aus day - Mates! BB

A Poem Post by 'nom de plume' L E on Firearms Forum Australia "hits the spot":-

Leigh Enfield From: Central Coast, NSW Date: 23-Jan-2015 Comment: This is good. gets right to the point...

**To Call Ourselves Australians** When we call ourselves Australians, When we say we are True Blue. When we venerate our starry flag, Of scarlet, white and blue. Emblazoned with the southern cross, What does this mean to you? We who call ourselves Australians, Wher' native born or refugee. Call the great south land our home, With thanks for liberty. And make our contribution to, The land's prosperity. Just what is an Australian, His defining quality? He is loyal to Australia, Standing by her faithfully. And for being an Australian, Making no apology. When we call ourselves Australian, How does this resonate? Are you swelled with patriotic pride, To be so fortunate? Or perhaps your inclination more To rage and blinding hate? Our freedom is our birth-right, That we fought so hard to win. And if more blood is needed, Then we'll stand and fight again. And show the world we're worthy, To be called Australians.

There is no Spring without Winter, without Mistakes there is no Learning. There is no Life without Death, without Doubts there is no Faith. There is no Peace without War, without Fear there is no Courage. For without Mistakes, Doubts and Fears there are no pathways to Wisdom.

Thanks Karl and Herr Walther, much appreciated!

A pity the Day billed as the "Celebration of the Nation" has been spoiled a tad by the media and lefties etc over PM Abbot bestowing a knighthood to "Phil the Greek" [aka Duke of Edinburgh- the Queen's consort] in the Aus Day honours.

Even though he is now sick and over 90 YO and has done a lot for youth groups, associations and charities in Australia for well over 50 years.

Unfortunate really for all the other worthies that have had their "oxygen" stolen by this one controversial award.....

I don't understand why that line is there?

Please dont take offence, but it seems very out of place on your national day.

Let's just say that Tony Abbott's recent actions has led to more Australians joining up the republican movement

The sooner Australia becomes a constitutional republic and give the British monarchy the flick, the better off we'll be .

A constitutional republic is a good thing.
We have had our ups and downs but on the whole a Republic is good.
Still that is only an opinion ..not advise...Since I am not Australian, it would not be proper for me to stick my nose in.
