Solid copper .223 bullets

With the previous price of copper, who would of thought this? Purportedly for the environment, full copper bullets are not supposed to be so bad as lead. I've tried various types of bullets in the past, but this by far shoots the worst groupings I've ever had.

The guy who sells these says that you can push these bullets harder since it's not lead. They're longer in size but still 55 grain, so the same amount of powder applies, I think, for the 55 grain lead bullets.

I wouldn't assume same amount of powder. Those look to have a much longer bearing surface than a typical 55gr FMJ. They do look longer overall so I'd assume deeper seating as well. Definitely a big enough change from more common 55gr pills that would warrant a work up from a starting charge for me.

Price is nice at $70 but I'll stick with Hornady and Varmint Nightmare for just a little more. I made the mistake and bought 1k of bullethead brand because they were a few bucks cheaper. Awful bullets. Very inconsistent and poorly constructed. I learned my lesson stay with what works and then buy in bulk to keep cost lower.

These particular copper bullets were not that precise shooting so I sold them. back to Hornady for me.

I was loading the Hornady 55gr spire point w/ cannelure as my general plinking round, and then the 55 gr flat base VMax for accuracy loads. I was real proud of those VMax hitting 2" targets @ 300 yds all day long. Turns out that when loaded with same amount of care, the cheaper SP will do exact same thing.

Lots of bullets I like for different things, but more often than not Hornady really manages to get it right.

I also like the varmint nightmare in bulk form Midsouth. Those are great bullets at a low price when caught on sale.
