Has anyone used one of the new sonic case cleaners? If so, how do you like it? How long did it take for the cases to dry? Which one are you using?

      Re: Sonic cleaners

      I have the little HF one http://www.harborfreight.com/25-lite...ner-95563.html. $60 with a 20% coupon.

      Pros:
I don't have to touch primer pockets.
Gets the inside clean also which [dry] tumbling doesn't.
Can be used for other stuff besides brass. I haven't found another use for my tumbler, but all sorts of stuff like jewelry, coins, watches, small parts, etc can go in the US cleaner.
      Faster than tumbling.
Can do it in the house w/o irritating anyone.
      No messy dust.

      Cons:
Doesn't get cases as bright/shiny as tumbling but pretty close.
More labor intensive, have to dry or wait for air drying.
      Smaller batch sizes.

Oh, I forgot to add - I do both. My cleaning is in the US, but i tumble the finished rounds in fine walnut with a little liquid car polish to get the high shine.

You don't have the wife I do. She can hear a fly land on the kitchen sink spout at 0300 in the AM, and decide that someone is breaking into the house.

Ultrasonics are not beyond her hearing range. I'm better off with a regular tumbler. The TV running covers that up, but a "Sonic" cleaner?

Totally unacceptable, around here. It whines like a dental drill, according to her. I had one a while back, because I thought it'd be more acceptable.

          Not here.

I generally run the tumbler outside on the porch on the weekends, which gets me a bit less complaining. She complains about the Hummingbirds being too noisy on the feeders occasionally, actually.

My high frequency hearing has been gone for a long time, so I just grin and ask her what on earth she's talking about. It doesn't cut down on the complaints most times, but it does remind her that she is being a bit over-sensitive.

My son regularly will annoy her about hearing things that he can't, too.

He got his daddy's genes for the hearing, clearly.

A mosquito in my bedroom woke me at 0300 about a week ago. I hate being a light sleeper.

I had to get up, fetch a fly swatter, and and hunt that darned thing down or I'd never get back to sleep.

We now return you to regular programming.

              Re: Sonic cleaners

The little HF one does make noise. Kind of like a bzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound. Not really loud though. If I put it in the bathroom on a folded up bath towel & shut the door it's barely noticeable in the next room. Quieter than the tumbler anyway, but a different sound. The tumbler is almost a white noise, the US is an irritating sound.

So how much can you cram in one of those and how long does it take to clean. I have been using a rock barrel tumbler but it takes a long time to get clean.
