  • Recommended grain weight bullets for 10mm?

I'm fixing to order myself some 10mm brass, and might as well toss some bullets onto the order, if I need them.

I'm thinking that all I have in hand for .40 is 155 and 165g, and I'm thinking that the 10mm might prefer a 180g loading. Never having messed with a 10mm before, I'm not sure.

    Any suggestions?????

I always liked the ten for its ability to push a heavy bullet that would both fully expand AND blow clean through allowing daylight in on both sides. My usual load was a 200 XTP powered by as much Power Pistol as I could get by with. I figured if not using full power loads I might as well be using a 40 SW. Personally I wouldn't go lighter than 180 grain.

      That's kind'a what I was thinking.

I stuffed up a couple hundred 180g rounds into some of my .400 CorBon, once, but that was just barely clearing 1000 FPS, which means I'd be better off putting the .45ACP barrel back in and using 230g of seriously damaging classic JMB style 1911 ball ammo.

OTOH, I don't want to blow the frame out in 2k rounds, so I'd like my range ammo to be a bit lighter, but of similar ballistics to the heavy stuff that I'd put into it if I really want to make a hole in someone that you can throw a small housecat throught.

FWIW, I have a six and a half pound full grown house cat. I'll use her to test the holes, if I have to make them.

Whatever...... I want a 165 to 180g load that will be about where a 200g HP will be at 15 yards, actually. I need to start digging up ballistic tables, I guess.
