Is this stuff much or any better than fmj? Ive been unable to find any real info on this, other than its dirty and won't expand hitting car doors (LOL) but will expand in gallon water jugs-WHAT HP won't!? I have a line on a couple hundred of these for $30 per hundred and since someone ran off with most of my ammo, I'm pretty desperate to get some ammo stock built up again. However is this stuff doesn't expand worth a hoot, I'd rather not waste my money. Any info on this will be appreciated!

I've fired it before and it's dirty as all get out, but I never did any sort of testing on it.Peace Through Strength, Victory Through Devastation...Strategic Air Command

Re: REM UMC 115 9mm JHP?
If nothing else it will probably be good target/plinking ammo. Closed base like a JHP is generally more accurate than open base FMJ.
I thought you were back to rolling your own PBM?
I wouldn't much care about expansion for UMC or WWB or any other bargain line of ammo. You're not planning on skimping for carry ammo right?
Anyway, I've never had any UMC that wasn't FMJ. No complaints other than unless I caught a sale (Dick's used to have decent sales on Rem UMC a few years ago) it was typically higher price than other "value brand" ammo. They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

-- Benjamin Franklin

Re: REM UMC 115 9mm JHP?
As much as I hate to say it, since UMC is made in Arkansas, I've got to do so.
I've never bought any of it that I thought was any better than cheap Russian ammo, and it was usually almost as dirty.
It's just not worth what they want for it. WWB is as good, and cleaner.

Thanks, I guess I can wait until something better comes along. CMV..I DID reload but my components and most all my loading equipment was part of the stuff that they took. I can't afford to replace much right now, medical bills are top priority."some people never let their given word interfere if something they want comes along"

Re: REM UMC 115 9mm JHP?
Things being how they are, I would buy a hundred rounds.
Reasons:
It is very hard to find any 9mm and they are running about 25 bucks per 50 when you do.
Umc brass is boxer and reloadable and brass alone is now between 18 and 25 bucks per 100.

The last time I was in Wally-World, they had both WWB and Federal 9mm at about $14/50. The local Co-op has Fiocchi at about $15.
