  • It is going to be an interesting ammo year

Go into any retail outlet in town. Huge sales, lower prices, bargains galore.

Not with ammunition though. I got this email from Ammoman.com today
We just want to wish everyone a happy new year and keep you all updated
    on what's going on.

Late last year we sold the entire inventory TWICE - Things went like
never before in our 26 year history. AMAZING to say the least.

We are almost sold out of everything but we do have some items in the
works. But have been told to expect price increases. We do not have any
    ETA's.

We get 300 TO 400 E-MAILS AND CALLS A DAY just for an ETA. - Sorry we
don't have an ETA on most items.

The website is updated every day and all items listed are currently in
    stock but almost gone.

If you are on our e-mailing list we will let you know as the items
    arrive and the new pricing.

All items will continue to be shipped free and we will continue in our
27th. year with a full 30 day unconditional money back guarantee.

Thanks very much for helping to make 2008 our best year ever and we
    look forward to 2009!

Again the website is accurate and we do have some 308, 223 and 7.62x39
    among other things.
higher prices, poor availability, and the specter of more government regulation..................

I'm not quite in "La De Da!" mode, but I'm OK. What I need is reloading components. Powder is easy. Just buy a pound a week, and you are quite well stocked in a year or less.

But bullets? Those are getting expensive. But I'm working on it, 1k or so at at a time.

I've seen Mitch's ammo shed it is LA DE DA... and then some. I'm wishing for warmer weather so I can go back there and do some more shooting. I'm a wuss and can't handle the cold weather.

Primers are drying up also as is processing times at large scale brass processing places like River Valley Ordance. Talked to them today and where this is usually a dead time for them they are currently 6-8 weeks behind as it seems like EVERYONE in the US decided to ship brass for them to process. They told me all they could do is size and deprime and swage the primer pockets of my brass as they could NOT get primers. Shipping them 5000 rounds of 223 brass to process tomorrow as I would be working until the second coming to process it here at the house one round at a time.

I suggested they start doing 308 also. They said they couldn't as there is not enough room at their current location. They do have the machinery to do it, just not enough room.

Anybody know of any place processing 308? Other wise I need to start now on wearing out my Dillon primer pocket swaging tool!

Doesn't Scharch do that sort of thing? may not be correct spelling.

Wasn't there some kind of primer scare back before the first ban? I am not into reloading yet as the stuff hasn't come in but if I remember correct from the past it was due to some kind of mandate that primers have a shelf life or something like that. Once the rumor mill got hold of the story they were hard to find and the prices reflected that.

This stinks the same. Only time will tell.

Ya, cost increase. Heck it sure does make me smile everytime I go into wal-mart and see .22 for 18bucks a box(550 ct value pack) and remember when I got it at 8 bucks for the same thing.
