    My uncle came across a few hundred rounds of .30-06 ammo in a recent trade, and he was kind enough let me have some of it.

    There are two headstamps: one is "FN 71", and the other is "88 .30-06"

    From some online reasearch (http://cartridgecollectors.org/headstampcodes.htm), it looks like the "FN 71" would be made by Fabrique Nationale, 1971 vintage? The same place indicates that the "88 .30-06" is Olin-Winchester.

    Both are brass-cased with annealed necks. The primers are crimped. The "88 .30-06" also has a red primer sealant on it.

    I'm a little skeptical on this stuff, particularly since there were a couple of the old-copper washed Norinco 7.62x51 in the bag too. Have I identified this correctly? Is it corrosive?
