  • Ammo Question

A brand of 22 has a heavy or heavier bullet.
Not sure if the powder charge is increased.
    Any ideas?

They look like they have a 22 short case but the larger bullet takes it out to long rifle length.

a company makes .22lr with 60gr bullets but the brand name escapes me ... a subsonic round i believe .

makers have been playing fast&loose with .22lr caselength/bullet size since Stingers came out .

Wolf SSS, a 60(?)gr bullet at subsonic speeds, will cycle a 10-22 and a ruger .22/45. Almost no noise signature from the 10/22, but a loud pop from a 4" bbl pistol.

The Aguila SSS is made in Mexico it has a 60 grain bullet and functions fine in my Ruger 10/22.
Gulf Coast also sells replacement 10/22 and 77/22 .920" diameter heavy barrel that has a slower 1 turn in 9" twist to get the maximum accuracy out of this ammo. $120 for the blue barrel and $130 for the stainless barrel.

and there it is ... what i was 'not remembering' anyway .
been a while since i had the .22s out . i'm still into the 2, 5000rnd bricks of whitebox Rem military from a long time ago .

these 60grnbullet loads have to have less powder/chargeweight in them unless powder with a radically different burnrate/density is used .
