  • squirtgun ammo (.32acp) choices...??

If someone were of a bent to have a little squirtgun feeling ity bitty thing (p32) in .32acp, what kind of options would this fella find ammo-wise?

Any thoughts about cheap play ammo? The best performing (for it's caliber) HP ammo?

www.ammoman.com has Federal JHP 71 gr for $99 per 500. They also have Fiocchi at a higher price.

It can be had cheaper, I'll just have to find it for you.

While it's not quite a .25, it's still on the small side. Any thoughts on which bullet will eek out the best performance vs BG? I know nothing this small will be a Magic Bullet, but I'd imagine that just like in other calibers, some will be duds and some will be passable (or better).

So far, this seems to be the best reference on the topic...

From the chart on that page, it looks like the best choices will be Corbon, Hydrashock, and Gold Dot. Silvertip gets an honorable mention, but surprisingly the Hornady doesn't fare well at all. :-(

MrM - Yep - that's what some people just don't seem to understand... you can't always keep that full-sized pistol by your side. When the choice is between carrying something and carrying nothing, I'll always go for the something, no matter how small it is.

                  story time .

had an uncle that raised pigs . he also slauterd them himself , used some little shiney chrome pocket .25 that he always carried and my mother was flippant about ME not getting ahold of...(i was like 4 or 5)

when he shot them behing the ear , they just dropped . once , he had just bought a new box of booletts , held the gun to the pig , bang , pig just got mad and bit him . grabbed him by the ear and again ... bang , pig wrestled away .

i went with him back to the gas-station (you read that right - gas-station - where he bought the pistol !) and he was mad as heck . "no problem" ! says the attendant , "must be defective" , took the box of booletts back and gave him another box (different color box)
. those worked fine . pigs dropped strait down !

in calibers 9mmMak and smaller , i want only FMJ . any little caliber FMJ will reliably penetrate a skull and thats all i want or expect from them .

A/B I was talking to Century yesterday. They have a seriously good sale going on .32 right now. Check it out.

I just went over to check that out - thanks.

It's listed as German mixed manufacturer, loose case lots. Call me paranoid, but something about their description just doesn't sound very good.

It does sound almost too good to be true at the price.

But for that amount, it'd be adequate range ammo anyway. Or components if you find some of it not to be too decent. You can't buy the components to reload it on your own brass for those prices.

Once, not to far back, I saw S&B for about $140/$150 a case. I need to find that add again.
(unless the Century dealer price is that good? I don't have my id/pwd handy today)

                            AM1218 Mixed German Mfg. .32ACP Ammo (72gr.) Boxer Primed / Non-Corrosive 50/bx 1000/case

                            Was $109.87/case Now $ 99.87/case

Add in another $15 for shipping.

That's still $50/1000 cheaper than S&B delivered from Cheaper Than Dirt, who had the best price on cases of S&B .32 last time I looked.

For defensive purposes (and for reliability's sake) I use FMJ in those tiny guns if I am forced to carry them.

Under-penetration is the big problem with those tiny loads, and I figure I want all the penetration I can get. That 71 grain FMJ loading looks pretty interesting...
