had MFS .45acp FMJ a year now but havnt got around to testing it

Well, I musta been one of the first to order due to the problems (minor...lol).

First, couldn't complete order onlone as the CC info page started to load and then jumped to an error message. That's as far as I got on that.

This very day, was put on hold when I called...bingo...dead line.
Called back, put on hold again, but salesman returned after a few.
I proceeded with order and was quoted something like $99 plus shipping. Whoa there! Wrong something or other dude.

I cited the deal again from Erik and was put on hold again...sigh.

He came back on in a few and all was well...he didn't know about the deal at first but was enlightened. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Anyhow, will be shipped Thursday and I SHOULD get it Friday...just in time to put DEATHMERCHANT to shame Saturday at the creek for our .45 duel.
(I can put him to shame with 2nd rate ammo, and if this ammo is good....well.... )

Since the deal is from AIM...I have only the highest expectations.

I ordered the FMJ match grade. I only carry HP for protection and I wasn't sure of the HP shape.

Didn't want to buy a case of jam0matics as I plan on sharing some with some other shooters if I like it this summer. (Will get more).

The HP may be excellent ammo, but the guys who will be shooting in August all have less than perfect .45s.

I don't do .40 any more, and I'm not big on 230gr for my lightweight 4' Kimber... but I think I might have to get some anyway.

I think all he meant by that statement is that he doesn't have any experience with that brand of ammo & hasn't heard anything good or bad about it.So those of us that do order it will be taking a small chance.I think It'll be OK.

It's more a function of the bullet not being seated deeply enough in the casing, in my experience.

But the same overall length that works great with round nose FMJ ammo will have the HP locking some pistols up every other round or so.

If one has no experience with the brand of ammo or has experienced problems with some HP types before, it becomes a consideration.

I had to shorten up about 5 boxes of Silver Bear a while back, because it wouldn't feed through any of the six different 1911 style .45's we tried it in. And I'm not a real fan of compressing loaded ammo.

I still got all my fingers and eyeballs and such, so I clearly got away with it, but it's not a project that I seek out chances to do!

Quijanos...the others hit it dead on...I simply don't know of the HP ammo.

I usually take a case or so to camp in August because the local dealer charges $14 0r so per fifty (I let them have it at cost).

For most of them 'cleaning' means wiping mud off and their guns aren't the best kept ones, hence they won't digest every type of ammo.

Just for the record:

Everyone who I hang with regularly knows how to clean a firearm. We've discussed buying patches by the case and bore brushes by the gross. And probably will, one of these fine days.

We also how to clean, deburr, and polish feed ramps. And tweak mag feed lips and followers to the correct angles.

Sometimes it's the pistol. But sometimes it's the ammo. If you don't know, caution is advisable.

But I can split a case two or three ways if necessary, and I want some good HP. So we may just find out. I need some more .45, for sure. I'm down to about 300 rounds, which is not my preferred stock level for anything.

If I get a wild hair, that much can go away in a day or two!!

At the price, it's probably worth rolling the dice for a case. One of ball and one of HP for $160 or thereabouts delivered? Brass, boxer primed cases we can reload?

Why not?

Jeff...agreed on friends knowing how to clean.
This is a special situation where my buddy and I have been camping for 40 years and we're kinda like local legends.
Locals from all around visit us and wind up firing our range set up. Then they want more ammo.

Some I don't know, but they're always supervised. Some just stop in camp to shoot the breeze or whatever and some swap guns and some buy ammo and goodies. Not the best gun owners...eh?
