I've also tried the 40 S&W in a 10mm firearm, a S&W 1006. Once again it ran flawlessly. The only problem is if you make a habit of doing this, you best have a spare extractor handy. Both the 10mm and the 40 S&W headspace on the cartridge mouth. Shooting 40 S&W in any 10mm firearm puts a tremendous strain on the extractractor because its the only thing holding the case against the breech face.
I agree that it should not be done all the time but have you ever seen the extractor on the model 20? It is massive, I think it would take a sledge hammer to damage it.
