New Generation 9mm Self Defense Ammunition
New Generation Ammunition featuring the Sentry all-copper bullet. Quite simply the best personal defense ammunition you can buy. This ammunition was specially imported from South Africa. Only a small amount remains in the warehouse, and future importation is unlikely due to new restrictions.

I'm thinking he may be rsferring to Barnaul brand and not 5.45 ammo in general.

I haven't heard of any new restrictions though.

I knwo friend and I have been having a bear of a time tracking down sources for that Barnaul FMJ. He just ordered some from Dan last week, but no one else ever seem sto have it, and local guy we normally deal with at shows either won't or can't get it, even though he's been asked every show for probably last year. Can find Wolf, and can find Barnaul HP, but not the FMJ

I've only shot Wolf so far & it's pretty accurate.I like it & I guess that's all that counts, but I have to ask.Is Barnual that much better??

I've only shot Wolf too, as that's all he had when I tried out his 5.45, he swears by the Barnaul though in 5.45. Dunno. Can't say from personal experience.

Depends on your rifle, my early ROmmaniun 74 seems to like the Banual 59 grain FMJ over the WOlf 60 grain and Ulyanovsk 70 grainer.

on 100 yds, groups open up from 2" to about 6 to 7" with Wolf! it does that consistantly.

I ahve another freind that likes the wolf... but he did not shoot on paper to see the differnce.

The banual seems a bit cleaner too!

              No, its not drying up...
Just some importers are feeling that
the demand is not there. I think that its
important to voice that it is important and
that they need to stock it.

I've only ever fired the Barnaul, so I cant say the difference between it and Wolf, performance-wise. I can say the difference availability-wise: Wolf is easier to get. Cheaper Than Dirt, Ammunitionstore, (I think) Sportsmans Guide, and a whole slew of other places have the Wolf 5.45mm. Dan is the only one with the Barnaul the springs to mind immediately, though.

I should get another of those cases from him pretty soon. I'm starting to run kinda low on 5.45.

I've had much better luck with Barnaul in my ORF/Bulgarian than with Wolf. 70 fps faster; much more consistent velocities; 2" @ 100 yards vs. 4.5".

                  And a WHOLE lot cleaner.

My results weren't that wide... but unlike the 7.62 wolf vs. barnaul... there is quite a bit of difference in the preformance ( I've seen) in the 5.45x39 wolf vs. barnaul. Barnaul has the advantage, and in most cases only costs 5 bucks more per 1k rounds anyway. Donno if it's cleaner or not, I always fire 300+ rounds so they all seem pretty filthy to me

looks like everyone is consistantly having better accuracy with Banual! good to know that

Just FYI! RAm Ammo sold by sportsmanguide is Banual 5.45. and they good stuff and price is right.
