Just bought 100 rounds of

[Near Sighted Sniper]

Rem All Purpose 12 Guage ammo.2 3/4" 1260 FPS #8 pellets.Does this qualify as defensive ammo or is it plinking ammo?The price suggests plinking ammo or birdshot,not suitable for 2 legged critters.

That's what I'm looking for,defensive ammo suitable for 2 legged critters.

It will work fine on two legged critters under 25 yards and won't take the door off or ruin the walls in your house either.

In a lot of ways bird shot can be even nastier than buck since it's so hard to fix all them little holes. The secondary wound channels from all those little pellets pinging about inside the target is hell too.

Up real close it's just as much lead and holding just as tight a pattern as buck so it's the best of both worlds in several ways.

The problem with #8 is that it is a Skeet/Trap round. It has very small pellets, so it might not penetrate some clothing. My favorite is either OO buck or #4 shot

It would surely work UP CLOSE as in a defensive operation.
Longer distances would require head shots for facial/eye damage.

Great for inside a house.

One that always seemed formidable to me is the steel TTT shot. I had some 3" rounds and the were like 157 .20 cal balls in one round.

From what I can tell (I am no shotgun expert) #6 is alot better than #8 and it's the same price (I just bought some at wally world 2.50 for a 25 round box)..

I use it for clay's and (if I run out of single ought buck and slugs) I can use it for home defense too...

Who am I kidding... If I can make it to the safe, I'll be grabbing the AR... the shotgun is just incase I run out of ammo in my .45's before I reach the next room.

i keep my persuader loaded with OO buck rubber batton... 15 pellets of solid rubber. That way, I still get to shoot the bad guy (a bunch of times) and then he still gets to go to jail!!!!

Funny,I was kinda thinking about ordering some of the non-lethal ammo from ammunitionstore.com,but it's a little expensive,& I really don't want to start a trend in my AO by being polite to those who enter thy home unauthorized whilst I sleep.Anyway the 250 rounds of Wolf 00 buck I ordered from ammunitionstore arrived so...I'Z REALLY DON'T NEED NO MO 12 GUAGE!!!!

Take it out and pattern it. Get a piece of tin roof, or whatever, and shoot it at 5, 10, 20, 30 yards. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Less than lethal munitions are not non lethal.You shoot someone you use less than lethal force in a deadly force situation and it could be your butt if you do any damage of a dire nature. If the situation allows you to shoot it allows you to use the real deal.If you have an aversion ot the possibility of Killing you do not need a gun, get pepper spray.
