• 8mm Romanian from AIM

We ordered it Monday from AIM. It arrived today. (2 cases.)

All in good order, and in the original wooden cases, which were somewhat falling apart, but managed to contain the cans until they arrived. And an opener included in each case. No gripe there. Nice clean cans, not dented or rusty or anything, and produced in December of '77. Fresh ammo! That part works.

But, Holy Smokes! $42 shipping for two cases? That's $21 per case, or $10.50 per can! OUTCH!!!

The cases are clearly labeled as weighting 24KG, which would be about 50 pounds and change each. So I think that AIM is taking somewhat of an advantage of me on shipping.

I'm still glad I got it, but I'll look elsewhere next time, if I can find it.

That's across two UPS zones, from Ohio to Arkansas.

That's why I get my ammo at shows if I can. There is a dealer in my area that sells AIM ammo etc. I get it at almost the same price but without the shipping.

Aim ships ups and puts each case in cardboard boxes. The box they use is slighly smaller than the wooden case so they bust off the handle on one side to fit it in the box. I though my shipment was going to show up on a pallet. I was bummed when I got my shipment and found all the wooden cases busted up. I am going to take parts from each case to see if I can salvage a few of the wooden cases. I have friends that want them for storage. With the amount of ammo I ordered with shipping it worked out to about 7 cents a round OH. to PA.

Dam Cableguy, did you do a group buy?I would have liked to get in on it.I have 1 crate that you can have if you want it,just meet me or pay shipping & it's yours.I only have 2 cans but was thinking about ordering 6 or 8 more.I wonder if the price comes down if you order that many?

If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you’re not racist, you’ll have to find someone else to vote for in 2012 to prove you’re not an idiot.

Not a group buy. Just stocking up. Purchased a 1919A6 MG and had it converted to 8mm while waiting for the forms to be approved. Actually I thought I would have heard from my dealer by now. I think it was about $21.50 a can.

$21.50 a can is a great deal.Which range do you shoot at?If I remember correctly you're not too far from me.I'm always looking for new places to shoot.

There was a discount for large amounts purchased. Usually shoot at Paradise shooting center. It is part of the old Mount Airy lodge property. It can get kind of crazy there with all the peolple that show up from the city on weekends. It's one of the few places around though that allows full auto. A yearly membership is like $40.00.

Palmerton is a nice range but if you rapid fire they are all over you about it. Been there a few times with friends that are members. If you ever come up this way I'm about 15 minutes from Palmerton and then maybe another 20 minutes to Paradise. I am also a member at a small private range not far from Palmerton. I usually use it on mondays when I am off. I have the whole range to myself. Come join us for some full auto fun.

I'd like that Cableguy.Everytime I went to Palmerton there was at the most 1 other person there with me.I was a member for 3 years, sold some tickets for their events but never attended one.I don't think I've ever been there on a weekend.I need to renew my membership with them though.

Sorry for hijacking this thread Jeff.

I was just giving folks a heads-up about AIM's hefty shipping charges. Or complaining, as you prefer.

Wherever it wound up from there is fine with me.

230# total weight for 4 cases(2 each czech light and hungarian heavy ball), so probably around 55 for thelight and 60 for the heavy, or some variation like that. If your order is over 200#, hits theUPS discount again. Guess how many cases I'm ordering.
