Ruger 10-22 to Thompson SMG kit

I asked about the 50 rounds mags and your answers help a lot. What I am thinking of is one of the "Fun Gun" conversions that dress the 10-22 up to look like a Thompson SMG. And what's a Tommy gun w/o a drum mag? The kits are pricey, but it sure would be fun. No, I can't afford to make it FA.

never saw any point in just making noise? That's about all F/a is good for, except with a belt fed, a truck full of ammo, linked together, a bunker, and a tripod mount. Firecrackers make noise, and are much cheaper, readily available, no serial numbers or laws to worry about.

I like the lookalike dress up kits alot, and the 10/22 makes the best rifle to assemble one around.

I especially like the MG 42 kit. I hope to put a 10/22/AK 47 together as well as a 10/22/PPS43.

I'll never own a civilian legal full auto, unless they repeal the 1986 ban on new FA guns. It's just not a priority to me. I'd rather have a semi auto version of the same gun and 10,000 rds of ammo. I understand though, vet, that you weren't talking about a full auto gun.

I've seen a video where someone took an airsoft gun and replaced the innards with a .22 rifle to make a look alike that looked pretty cool, but was probably not very durable. still fun, and I'd give it a try if I could find the right airsoft gun to use as a donor.

I have the MG-42 kit on a 10-22, with a belt of inert 5.56 attached to the side it looks AWESOME !

For extra fun I use a crank device on the trigger for "simulated" full auto, the BMF activator. Empties 30 rds in

5 seconds. Turns heads at the range .

I have a 1928 model 10/22 Fun Gun kit, and with the drum mags I have, it looks great. It was very easy to install.

Thanx all who contributed. Just got to pry my wallet open and purchase it. And one other thing. Firecrackers don't poke nice round holes in things from 50 yards away!

I coulda' used 1022fungun.com 18 months ago. I've had folding stocks on every 10-22 I've ever owned. Till recently. I've got 2 setup as Bullpups now. They're ok for now.

Butler Creek 25R mags in clear, smoked and black are what I've used since Klinton was in. Decently priced and far more reliable than Ramline ever was!!

Wow guys my pc has crapped out on me so had to do a Restart yada yada drops me in a 4+yr old thread with a WWII/Cold War sub movie soundtrack oh my word life is GRAND. Dude some time ago there (K-19 the movie) was this outfit came out with steady. . . an MG42 kit. for the 10-22 platform. Slick as greased lightning I kid you knot.

The Thompson *Tommy Gun* such as Sgt Saunders used on the 1960s b&w TV show with the Cutts Compensator is burned into my mind like the M3 Stuart or the C96. Just about 2 yrs ago I seen an absolutely Gorgeous ATF Legal in my state semi MG42 in the wood crate with tool kit spare barrel and steady....800R of 8mm.

I asked and he handed it to me. What a Brute!! Felt like 18-21 pounds. Just a ROCKIN' 4 foot long piece of WWII magnificent weaponry!!!:kneel:Nine plus years afore that at the Puyallup WAC gun show I'd been allowed to pickup and damn near pee my britches with a BAR Browning Automatic Rifle. That was right up there with getting Laid your first time boys!!!!! The BAR dealer also had IIRC a Vickers water cooled .303 belt fed and beside it a 1919 Browning air cooled squad light machinegun. The Vickers was Magnificent with the wood grips and brass furniture. The Puyallup shows were ALWAYS of more significant size than the Monroe shows. The building was 4 or 5 times larger.

PS In the 1980s there was a SS side by side rig sporting 10-22 actions utilizing 50R straight drums and came with aluminum tripod and (get this) AA sight. It was a crank fire like the original Gatling Gun. Twin full length barrel shrouds this puppy was a thing of Stainless Steel Beauty. Yes there's pics of it on the web cuz I seen some of late.
