I've got an FNC and a Sten converted M11/9 just sitting and waiting for me. I've been so close to buying an M16 too but I figure I've spent enough on these two toyw, might as well shoot them a bit first to make sure I don't get bored too quickly... I'm in the Tampa Bay area.
Just dropped my paperwork on Monday for a registered receiver M2 carbine (Winchester M2 overstamp by Rock Island Armory). I have chosen not to hold my breath, since I will be long dead by the time the BATF sends my stamp!
I, too, am anxious to get that bad boy in my hands. My first NFA!
I gave my paperwork and money to my C3 buddy 3 weeks ago for my 76/45.....how do you know if you have entered the 'pending' status??? This is my first rodeo with getting a FA so I have no clue what to expect.

I don't know what "pending" means anyway... my dealer called his examiner and was told on 5/9 that one of my 4's was in pending... still no 4 on this end to date...
Only way to find out your status is to call the BATF offices in DC and ask. I'm not sure if you need to know who your particular examiner is, probably just the name of the transferor.
I've never called, always been satisfied with the transfer time. Besides, I've heard stories that people who call a lot and bother the folks working there might wind up with their transfers moved to the bottom of the pile.
Check the Bower's board - www.subguns.com - if you want the number, it's usually posted over there on the NFA forum.
EDIT - pretty sure "pending" means the form is being processed. Ya know - cross checking the addresses and serial number; having the fingerprint cards done by the FBI; looking at the latest satellite imagery to verify the pic submitted matches what they have on file of you; checking the latest ECHELON comm scans to see if there's any tag words associated with you. Stuff like that

I just got off the phone with my C3 buddy and he said that he never calls the ATF after they cash his check....he too is afraid that they will put his stuff on the bottom of the pile just for calling.
Thanks for the info guys.....it's just hard to sit and wait for something thats just way too much fun!

All of my 4s were pending around 90 days. That was before 9-11. I have read on Subguns that 4s are taking a little longer now. I think part of the problem is they are sanitizing the incoming mail. Be patient grasshopper, it's worth the wait. L.

If you can read this, you're in range.
Best I can tell I am about 6 weeks into the process. Fortunately, I am able to get a 'fix' every once in a while when I get together with my dealer buddy. I get to run some rounds through mine and some of his toys too. Unfortunately, the smile quickly fades when he takes MY toy with him when he leaves.
