Re: Ruger Scout in .450 Bushmaster
It's a 250 grain bullet, same as .45 ACP, only boat tail. It gets around 2200 fps from a 20" AR or just under 2000 fps from a 16" AR. It's less powerful than .458 SOCOM, but probably cheaper to fire as well. The ballistics are actually pretty close to .500 Beowulf in a 20" barrel, although the Beowulf does surprisingly better in a short barrel.
I would rather have a .500 Beowulf to be honest, but the .450 Bushmaster is still pretty cool. I think Ruger went with it because it works with a .308 bolt face. So Ruger only had to change the barrel.

I need to do research on this cartridge, don't know squat about what it has going for it.

Ruger Scout in .450 Bushmaster

Ruger is banging on all cylinders here lately. This looks pretty cool. I'd rather it be .500 Beowulf, but I can understand why they went with .450 Bushmaster. And in terms of reloading it's probably the easiest of the big bore rifles to do (since it is a straight case and .454 like .45 Colt and .45 ACP).Tags: None
