  • Finn Model 39,VKT/SA Hex receiver 1944....

New score, from Armslist. Got the rifle,a 440 round can of 1980 Russian ball, and an additional 880 rounds of Yugoslavian M30 brass cased... Be was selling a LOT of VERY nice C&R stuff. I saw this and felt that my Model44 and Type53 needed the company.

    Good choice!

I sincerely wish I'd have gotten a couple of dozen of them back when they were going for about $109-$129 each.

Oh, well. I got three, and that's enough to last me the rest of my life, I suspect.

He had an unissued Finn 91-30, but considering the ammo deal with the M39, I opted for the " modernized Mosin " over the more " classical " one.

So, when can we expect a range report on it?

I just put it through some quick and dirty paces Friday on an old friend's acreage. His berms and backstop go out to 300.
It seems to have a decided preference for 182 grain ball-both the old Yugoslavian M30 and the current Wolf commercial... All groups centered about 1-1.5 inches high at 100 yards. Handles Light Ball as well, but the groups are definitely bigger, albeit " on"(although this has been the case with my Type53 as well-ouch!).
Ergonomic by comparison. Good trigger. Somehow, the sights are easier to pick up.
No sticking of the bolt,or rimlock; whether clip loaded or topping off the box by hand one at a time.

Thanks Karl. As such I can hit with it more comfortably from the offhand than the bench...Fun to shoot, and I can always use an SKS,my M92 or PPS43C for housecleaning-to -mid range needs.
