  • Went shooting yesterday

After a long break from shooting, a buddy and I went out to a friend's 40 acre wooded spread where he has a 100 & 200 yard range. They also built a couple of very nice right/left shooting benches built from 6x6 and 2x pressure treated stock and thoroughly anchored into the ground. Super heavy duty if I ever saw one.

I had the EoTech holosight on the PTR G3 and at 200 yards the bore sighting I did wasn't too too far off. The left and right was perfectly down the center of the target, but bore sighted at 30 meters, it needed to come up 6 clicks to get it to the 10 ring.

Now, it's been ages since I fired at 200 yards, in fact, not since before I sold my StG.58 over a year ago. My eyes are slipping some, and the red holographic dot just about covers up an entire B-27 target at that distance. However, after re-zeroing the EOTech, I was putting them in the 8,9, and 10 ring. I was pretty pleased with my shooting at that distance with that sight.

There was at least a magazine or more that completely obliterated the X and most of the ten ring, with the rest spread around the center of mass. I even managed several head shots at that distance, but there were a lot of misses and that small of a target too.

If it weren't for the fact that I bought this rifle for distances out to around 50-75 yards, I'd put some regular glass on this and see what it could really do at 200 yards. As it was I could barely see that far, let alone put that red dot on any particular part of the target. I just aimed where I thought the red dot would be over the X and fired.

After 100 rounds with the collapsible stock I was finished. I might have shot more, but I only took 100 rounds. I figured that was enough. It was a beautiful day out in the woods.

I also took along the Walther P5, HK USP9 Compact, S&W 4006, and SIG-Sauer P225. We shot about 100 rounds through each except for the S&W 4006. I only had one box of WWB for it.

Not the rifle nor any of the handguns bobbled even one round. I was very impressed, but not particularly surprised. Especially with the rifle. It functions just as good as any HK I've owned or fired.

Awesome, shooting is always fun. I'm glad you gave me the info on the PRT series! There are a few things I had to address. The slim line hand guard has no heat shield. It was from a company JDL. Hey I created some innovative things. Problem is that website I upload things to has a ban on anything SCARY, so they won't like firearms pictures you know they can kill just by looks.

I picked up a wide hand guard 20$, it also didn't have a heat shield and its from another company FMP, it didn't have the bi-pod but I grabbed one of them at the last gun show for 15$ Problem is there wasn't a retaining tab so I made one from tin snips and metal same with the heat shield. I'm going to afro-engineer a heat shield for the slim line from reflective attic material.

Once I figure out how to label the "Car Parts" or Apollo heat shield so they are not scary I can upload them but if they get reported the company may ban me and will defiantly take the image down.
Call me John, just an old man with opinions.

Start uploading to Imgur. They don't care what you upload.
