What about the SR-25 Magazines? Are these the ones that Magpul makes? If not, can you suggest a compatible one to the upper you suggested that does?

Can you tell I will NEVER give Reed Knight a penny? Good, I knew you could.

Found the answer on the mags. Still think Reed Knight is a lying SOB!

Brownell's is having a sale right now on DPMS lowers? OK to work with from scratch?

You have to be careful that they match up right with the upper you're using. The DPMS lowers will work with most of the other Knights/DPMS uppers, but some of them will have an edge protrude higher or lower.

That was the case with the ones I got for my project. The flat side (no FA, shell deflector, or dust cover) were slightly wider (and heavier) than the uppers with those features. They fit, and would have worked fine, I'm sure, but The PTAC PA-10 lower matched up better.

I highly reccomend PSA for your build, I think you'd have a hard time beating them for parts at any price.

Re: Rebarrelling my .308 DPMS AR

I keep reading that the PSA upper does not match well to a DPMS or CMMG lower because the charging handle will hit the lower receiver. But then I've seen a few posts on other forums that their PSA upper worked fine on a DPMS lower. There's no way I'm going to file down a lower receiver so I will wait to hear more success stories.

Re: Rebarrelling my .308 DPMS AR

They work fine together. The only issue is that the DPMS uppers without FA and dust cover are slightly wider than the standard PA10 upper so those DPMS uppers stick out over the edge of the PA type lowers about 1/16" on each side.

The PA10 design is an improvement over DPMS's older LAR design.

That is the first less than positive review I've read about a PSA product. I noted it came fromone individual, with a bunch of people who piled on without first hand experience.

I think there are a lot of people who spend too much for a product, then bash a similar product if it wasn't as expensive as they paid for it.

Well, you go ahead and buy all the PSA PA10s you want there scooter!

They wont sell me another one.

And my bashing is far from unfounded and has NOTHING to do with what I paid.

They sold me a piece of crap that had a horked up chamber.

I waited a month and got another one that was not only from another production run, but was a whole different model, and it STILL had a chamber that was apparently cut with a hand held electric drill!

And if that's the first less than positive review you've read about, then I suggest you try digging a little deeper!

I'm glad that none of my .308 ARs had any problems. The first 2 were 16" barrel rifles built by DPMS. The one I just built has a 20" DPMS barrel. The only PA10 part is the lower.

A DPMS was what I finally ended up with.

I also have a Sportical and I love it.Got a Vortex red/green dot sight on it now.Wondering if there is room on the rail to put some 45 degree iron sights on it as it doesnt have any irons.

No idea as I went with straight irons on mine. May put glass on top eventually if I finally get the 20 inch barrel I want over the 16 it has currently. May just build a second complete upper with a 20 inch barrel.

I do not do any sights that require batteries or has a wire or circuit that could break loose at the worse time.
