New double stack 9mm with all new magazines, have found that when feeding the bullet seems to hit a bit low on the feed ramp, this causing a noticeable "bump" during the feed cycle. This isn't bad enough to cause malfunctions so far but from my experience, a pistol should feed smoother than this one. Am I looking at a magazine feed lip issue or possibly an extractor issue? Any idea how to smooth the feed cycle would be appreciated. Feed ramp has been polished, this didn't help any.

First step is to try a different brand/type of ammo.
Look at a hollow point that has a more rounded nose.
Some guns just don't "like" some ammo.
Is the gun broken in?
If not give it a couple of hundred rounds to settle down.
Is the gun clean and properly lubed?
Factory lube is mostly to preserve during shipping, not for use as a working lube. Clean it off and re-lube with your favorite.
Don't forget to disassemble and clean the magazines too.
Is the feed ramp reasonably smooth?
All it needs is to not have machine marks that can catch a bullet nose.
It DOES NOT need to be polished like a mirror, and doing so can ruin a barrel.
Is the slide breech face reasonably smooth and without any machine marks or other defects that can cause the case not to slide up under the extractor?
Is the extractor cleaned of factory grease or debris, and are the edges too sharp and catching the case?
Last, if you just can't see anything obvious, DO NOT start "polishing" anything and risk voiding the factory warranty.
Contact S&W and have them send you a shipping label or pick up notice and ship it back to them along with a short note explaining the problem.
They're the experts and they should correct any problems.Comment
