  • Looking for a Turk LRSSM - Large Ring Small Shank Mauser Receiver

    P { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }A:link { } Hi,
I have a 29 inch Turk made 8mm Mauser barrel. It is a small shank barrel. I want to build a “sporter” type rifle.
I am looking for a solid safe, LRSSM - Large Ring Small Shank Mauser, receiver/bolt as a foundation for my project. Cosmetic issues, pitting etc, no problem. Again so long as safety is not as issue I can live with a lot.
The finished weapon will be bead blasted and parkerized.

What I am NOT looking for is: A collectible rifle to bubbaize. Any nice parts that could be used to restore “bubbas” handiwork.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi,
Still looking for the LRSSM - Large Ring Small Shank Mauser, receiver/bolt. In fact I could use TWO (2) now.
I recently picked up a 7.62x51 (.308 Win) barrel cut with small ring Mauser threads.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Did you ever find a receiver? I have one here that I think is what you are looking for. Been a while since I've messed with the old Turk actions. Bare receiver dated 1937, has the bullet notch at the front of the breech opening. Has some rust and pitting below the wood line, but should be serviceable.

        P { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } Hey!
Thanks for posting. This came out of the blue.
You describe the receiver as being notched in the front. I believe that was done to convert 7.65x54 Argentine Mauser receivers to 8x57 Mauser. Part of their early standardization.
Based on condition (no problem for me) there is probably no collector value.

Does it take a common 98 receiver bolt? It will also have to fit the Archangel aftermarket stock.

Contact through this posting or PM.
        Thanks and Merry Christmas!

If everybody does a little bit a lot will get done.

P.S. I've got a coupla collectible rifles I'm going to sell. An M39 and Czech 98/22.

I just tried the bolt out of my 98K and it was too long for the action, so it must be a 1903 that had been converted to 8mm. Sorry, I should have checked that before I posted. You are welcome to it if you can use it for anything though...I have no use for it and have nothing invested in it.

Just sent a note to Archangel to find out if the receiver will fit.
How hard could it be to find a bolt?
All the other bits and pieces will fit.

Last I knew (several years ago) bolts were hare to find. You can have this one if you want it...no telling what you may run up on as far as parts for it in the future. I'm cleaning out my gun room (read junk room) and it's going to go somewhere. Got several boxes of vintage computer parts that need a new home too...hint, hint!
