  • Cetme front sight: Hard to move?

Got my Cetme in April at the creek. Mostly plinked and sprayed. Decided to zero better. Shot high.

Heard lotsa horror stories about sight being almost impossible to move on some rifles. One fella even broke a sight tool. Cures ran from torching to freezing (new one there).

I simply placed weapon in shooting position, removed retainer screw and commenced to daily soak sight in oil, different types.
Did this for a week until sight tool came in. 1st try was no go. 2nd try was a success and sight now moves freely.

Anybody else have a problem? Your cure?

With the steps you took, you could have applied some Heat to the area. You don't want to apply enough Heat to change the Temper of the steel, But just enough to help loosen everything up.

I agree, dude! It just happened I soaked it whilst a waitin' for my sight tool and it came loose real good. Didn't need heat and that's what surprised me. Maybe I'm onto something--like patience? LOL

Anyone else hear of using COLD?
