  • Original Super-X model 1

I might be able to trade for one still in great condition. Are these good shotguns and what will one in 95% plus condition be worth?

They are GREAT weapons! Insides are all stainless steel. That is why they were discontinued as they were costing more to produce than they were getting for them. Rick Castelow who shoots for Les Baer and Springfield Armoury has one that he had modified by Cylinder and Slide shop for combat matches about 20 years ago. He still has it and it is still running strong after 10,000 rounds plus. Hardest mod for it was they had to make the extended tube for it as there are no aftermarket ones for it.

As to price, no idea as I don't keep up with them on shotguns. I have seen Rick turn down $1,000 for his though.

Thanks for the info! I had gathered they were right up there with A-5 Brownings and Model 12 Winchesters as to quality. The owner of this shotgun wants a model 30 Glock I own, I'll have to see what sort of trade he has in mind. Your Rick Castelow info made me remember what Mike Plaxco said about them several years ago. All the competitors wanted them over even Benelli due to low recoil.

Rick's is really sweet to shoot. Kicks MUCH less than my Benelli and is almost as quick! His is ported and has a custom oversized bolt release also. I WOULD trade the Glock for one in a second even if I had to go out and buy the Glock new to get it. Rick started the rush for the X-1's after kicking so many butts with his in competition. Plaxco was especially mad about losing to Rick. LOL Rick got his first one as a prize at a local IPSC match. Realized it would cheaper to modify it than buying a whole new gun for matches. Luckily it not only worked out, it started a trend in 3 gun matches nation wide.
