  • Plain lead, or Copper-Plated buckshot?

Which one do you have in your chotgun?

I use copper plated, less deformity, better penetration.

I practice with lead and cp, but load her up with the cp before she goes back in the safe.

    You?

What manufacturer and shot size are you using? Is there a difference in shot pattern between the two?

The Winchester copper-plated seems to be a little tighter than non-plated, mostly due to less deformation through the bbl, and consequently less deformation through the target, while giving a little better penetration with it's slightly harder surface.

Winchester, Supreme, 00 or 000 Buck...

Does Remington still sell their nickel plated buckshot? This stuff held somewhat tighter patterns in my guns than copper plated. I personally prefer number one size, decent penetration with a denser pattern.

I don't know about the Remmy Nickel, I'll have to look it up, and yeah, the smaller shot does have more pattern, but 00 alone is like a bunch of .32 cal bullets, and I wouldn't want to go any smaller than that personally. I do like the way a target looks after 1 or 4 buck, though, looks nasty on paper.

I quit using number fours, copper or otherwise after seeing the pellets bounce off some pallets were were using as target holders.
