Basically, the pistol permit would be for home defense, target shooting and hunting, and you can't tag CCW onto your permit. Am I wrong or missing something here?

(400.00 Sub 2)

Defines the type of licenses you can get in New York State. You have to have a license to even buy a gun and keep it in your home.

Admin Note: Since all handguns are registered in New York, open carry is effectively outlawed (no such license exists – carry licenses are to “have and carry concealed”) and licenses are required for concealed carry, there is no way to legally carry a handgun (concealed or otherwise) in the Empire State.

Mossy 500 Persuader.

12 ga.
7+1 rounds
Ambi saftey
heat sheild
pistol grip (add or buy one with a stock if thats not NY 'legal')
$225-250 NIB

IMO the best scatter gun on the market for home defense that is a pump.

I would highly recommend a Home Defense Moving Van/SemiTrailer. One that holds all of your home furnishings and that has an auto pilot that will leave you sitting in a gun friendly southern or western State.

Just kidding, but can you imagine the problems you will face if you use deadly force on a minority member in NY. A few years in Attica is not a joking matter.

I work with a guy who did 5 in Attica for killing a 20 year old who was assaulting his wife in a not so pleasant way. Punched him in the nose, knocked him out, and the first thing to break his fall with the pavement was his noggin. A real shame. A stand up guy not labeled a convict.

In Texas the Grand Jury reviewing the above case would have presented him with a medal.

Remember, be careful where you live or travel in this day and time. Different folks have different beliefs in Self Defense and what is right and wrong, whether it's in defense of your self or others. I don't travel to Commie Yankee States nor the land of Fruits and Flakes.
Not worth my time or energy. Red and Blue States is a pretty good way to label and judge where I will go or not go.

Right now I'm using either a Glock 21 or an M11/9 SWD fully automatic submachinegun for home defense. I suspect that option #2 isn't open to you. Therefore go with Option #1.

Wait... you must have a safety.... Ok get a Kimber .45 made in NY...........

A shotgun is your best bet. A mossberg 590 A1 or a Benelli autoloader are excellent options. You can't beat 00 Buck or slugs for up close work.

Go with a gunshow special 870 police. At the local shows around here there's usually a guy with a table full of 'em going for $150 a piece. Send it to Wilson/ST for their upgrade for $350-ish. Also, if you KNOW for a fact they're drug dealers, print up flyers saying such and distribute them to eveyone in the neighborhood (and police). Having a whole neighborhood informed and pissed off at the new residents could help make their stay shorter.

Mosse 500 series or the 870. About 50 to $100 differ in price. Picked up a moss 500 pistol grip, heat shield 18.5" Sunday at the local show $226 out the door. Put a Knoxx folder on it.I carry a moss 590 14" on the job and love it. I would like to own one, but not ready to make donation to ATF yet. Either one friend cant go wrong.

" M11/9 SWD fully automatic submachinegun"

A little redundant no? Is there such a thing as a partial automatic?I think submachinegun would've covered it. Ill take a 12 gauge shotgun over a subgun for home defense anyday, cool factor is not going to save your butt.

Pump shotguns always work and makes a big mess, but its U or them. The only way to go.Some people dont like the recoil of a 12g, so go with a 20g still does the job with the right ammo.
