One: The Mossberg SPX was not even out then. So you shot against a different gun.

Two: He isn't talking about buying a Benelli, but rather a Turkish clone of a Benelli.

Edited to add: I also like the inertia driven system of the Benelli better, but if my choices were Mossberg SPX or Turkish clone by Stoeger (regardless of who owns Stoeger now), I would get the Mossberg.

I sued a Benelli M1 Super-90 in exactly one formal three gun match before I got busted and the feds stole my Benellis (I had three). I was doing OK on the rifle portion and was one of the top guys using Iron sights (my Eotech has been on and off my main rifle so many times I did not trust the zero, but my A2 had been sitting unmolested since the last time I had zeroed it). My pistol runs were so-so, but nothing to majorly brag about, especially considering the other guys were mainly handgun shooters to begin with.

Yeah but Beretta owns both of them.

While it might be similar to a Benelli, that does not mean that it is a Benelli, nor does it mean that parts interchange.

So again, like I said, get the American made Mossberg 930 SPX instead.

I've owned a Stoeger before, but mine was the double barrel model. I thought mine was made in Brazil though.... dunno.... been awhile.

Personally, I'd pay a little more and get the Mossberg 930 SPX. Its not much more, but the gun seems cooler to me.

I'd rather have quality over quantity and I've come to trust Mossbergs. They are kind of on the edgy side when it comes to looks and feel, but never fail to fire. Plus you even get to buy something made in the USA. Its worth the extra hundred or two, to me anyway.

There are also a lot of options and accessories for the Mossberg and replacement parts should be cheap and available through Mossberg.

If it is a direct copy of the Benelli system then it is probably good to go, if it is a copy of the very similar Beretta 1201 system, then there is a problem that comes up if a round gets caught under the bolt and above the shell lifter/carrier when there is a round in the chamber. You have to pull the trigger to release the bolt...

    Poor man's Benelli...

Anyone heard of the Turkish made Stoeger 2000 semi-auto? From what I gather they are a copy of the Benelli at less than half the price. Reviews are very favorable, most going through several cases of shells with no malfunctions, parts breakages or undue wear. Nordic Components make magazine extension tubes in several lengths, Stoeger has a pistol grip buttstock available for them. I'm seriously thinking of seeing about buying one.
