Birdshot is for cute little birdies that weigh in at a pound and buckshot is for large game that weigh in at 200lbs+.

What has a greater chance of breaking into your house and causing mortal A dove or a human?

My thing is this...IF that birdshot does NOT do the job and some jacked up thug gains the upper hand, whats the lesser of two concerns, him or them killing everyone in the house or a load of buckshot going through a wall? No right answer here, I'm lucky to have no kids to worry about, so the potential for buckshot to overpenetrate doesn't concern me.

I keep 00 buck in my home defense 12 Ga. It's a Remington 870 that I shortened the barrel to 18" and installed a sidefolding stock, firesights, and a bright LED flashlight on. The stock holds 3 additional rounds, they're slugs.

Sounds like you're ready. I've got an old Winchester 1200 I got for 100 bucks, added an extended plus two mag tube and cut the barrel to 18.5", If it were lost or stolen, I can handle losing $150, I have more than that in my 18.5" Rem Choked 870 barrel alone! depending on my mood, I'll go from number one's to oughts to double and triple oughts with a slug or two thrown in for good measure.

              I have both the 12ga and the 20ga home-defense shotguns stoked with 4B (4Buck).

Where did you find 20ga number 4 buck? I've seen just number 2's and 3's in 20's..

                  Dude! I know you reload.

So why haven't you figured out that you can roll your own Shotgun Shells, and put anything you want to into them?

Yeah. It's 20ga. so keep the load down to about 7/8 ounce, and you are good to go, right?
