  • Choke Tubes?

I am looking for a ported(vented) extended modified choke for a Remington... 1187 to be exact. I am looking for one thats decently made for a decent price. I am also looking for an SKS takedown latch(lever). As well as FAL small parts.Any suggs? I know it is gonna be impossible to find everything I need at one place, but a place that ships USPO would be a plus.

This room seems quiet, so I figured I would ask, maybe I will get lucky!

For the SKS and FAL parts, I suggest you go to Numrich Gun Parts, Corp WWW.gunpartscorp.com, Brownells or MidwayUSA.

I am heavy into shotguns and there are many aftermarket choke tube manufacturers out there (Goggle is your friend). I am also getting into the choke tube business myself with a design of my own www.blackborechokes.com. If you want some background info on chokes, you might take a look.

GTP..Are you developing tubes specifically to improve buckshot patterns? One that really works, that can add yards to effective range of typical buck loads would be something I'd really consider buying.

          Re: Choke Tubes?

My goal in developing my chokes was to eliminate the wad rear-ending the shot column at the muzzle when the wad/shot column leaves the barrel. If you eliminate this variable, the shooter can concentrate on his shooting with greater confidence.

When I started making my chokes (actually, I have a CNC company do them to my specifications), my intention was to start with the competition chokes (I shoot Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays) and gradually get into hunting and tactical-type chokes.

As I have also been very interested in the Hunting and LEO/Home Defense markets, I am also developing models for these markets. Essentially, these chokes will have a greater wall thickness then the competition chokes. Most buyers want some added weight at the muzzle to reduce muzzle flip and recoil and they want a black finish. All will be manufactured in 17-4 PH high tensile strength stainless steel.

So, to answer your question Paint, I will have chokes made specifically for the LEO/HD/Hunting market sometime later this year. Will they do any better with buckshot then other offerings? They should simply because my choke will make sure the wad does not effect the flight of the individual pellets. I also feel that shotgun slugs with wads in them will be more accurate.

At this time, I am actively testing both buckshot and slug loads using my Benelli M4, Remington 11-87 and Mossberg 590A1 shotguns. This will, in my mind, substantiate the effectiveness of using my chokes for more accuracy in shotguns using any type of shotgun shell on the market.

Thanks for taking the time to explain, i'll keep these in mind for future use, that is if we have much of any firearms future left. I think you are onto something, I've seen time and again that simply tightening constriction is not the full solution.

I think shotguns will be with us for a good while yet, but maybe not necessarily in the configuration we want! Thanks for the interest, guys!

I plan on keeping my shotguns for a long time. They fill a niche for me with my HD needs.
