    Re: Obtaining A SBR Permit

No such thing as a SBR permit. It is a one time $200 tax.

If SBRs are legal in your state, fill out a Form 1 with photos, finger print cards, certificate of compliance, get CLEO to sign, send in with $200 check for the tax. The Form 1 is on the gun you plan to make into a SBR. Do not make the gun into a SBR until you have the approved Form 1 in hand! When you build the gun, you have to put your name, city and state on the receiver you are registering. I would recommend having this done while you wait on the Form 1 to return. Turn around times are about 6 weeks right now.

Be sure you know the drill on C3 items. you must have a copy of the Form 1 (keep your original locked up, make some color copies to keep with the gun) with the gun at all times. Don't loan the gun to a friend as it is registered to you, not them, your wife, or mistress. if you plan on traveling out of state with the gun you must have an approved 5320.20 along with the Form 1.

You can find good info at www.titleii.com Lots of good stuff like forms you can fill out and print yourself.

www.atf.gov is another good source. Look under NFA. Get your finger print cards from the forms link.
