  • No more carbines at CMP :(

From the CMP website, "NOTE: CMP HAS ALMOST COMPLETELY SOLD OUT OF CARBINES. THE ONLY OPTIONS REMAINING ARE SHOWN BELOW. WE DO NOT EXPECT TO RECEIVE ANY ADDITIONAL SHIPMENTS."

    That is really sad news

To those that did not yet buy an M1 Carbine and want one...ORDER TODAY!

I am surprised they lasted the three years or so that they did. I think the collapsed economy played a big part in stringing out the supply as long as they lasted.

Here's a pic of the 'opening day' of Winchester Carbine Season...er, sales at Camp Perry. I'm in the brown Carhart with paperwork in my hip pocket just waiting to get in the cage to select a Winchester. It was January 9th, 2008, a very cold morning in Ohio along the Lake Erie shoreline! We waited outside the store for about an hour for the doors to open. Some folks waited in line ALL NIGHT to be at the front of the line.

    And here's the Winchester:

I also snagged an Inland and a Saginaw on different shopping trips to Camp Perry. If only those rifles could talk and tell us where they've been and what they've seen.

No need to worry, they'll show up at your next local gunshow although at an inflated price. Allowing the CMP to become distributor for gunshow bandits is the REAL shame. There should have been a purchase limit on everything the CMP sold long ago.
"some people never let their given word interfere if something they want comes along"
The real problem with the world are laws preventing culling.

That leaves that tantalizing store of 80,000 or so carbines in South Korea. They will remain out of reach until after Obama leaves office.

          They'll make it back home...someday!

          It's only right.

Hopefully without the dreaded "CAI" stamp on the barrel.

Does anyone remember the combined size of the CMP's Italian and Austrian batches? If memory serves, it was something like 30K. I could be way off in that number though.

I remembered seeing that picture of the huge stack of carbines in crates/boxes and thinking, "They won't sell all those in ten years!". WRONG!!!

Hmmm...you know, maybe we should all order another Kimber 82G before those disappear, too!
