But I could enjoy a bunch, of freshly imported AK's and FAL's and AUG's!!!! I prefer the way they originally worked!!

King George the Bush (the First)and William the Slick screwed us there... that stupid Bush/Bennett Import ban is STILL part of 922.

I thought the Galil barrel threaded into the receiver. it looks like this design requires a standard AK trunnion.

I am interested, but hope that they offer a properly heat treated steel receiver as an option once they get up and running .. dittos for the trunnion work as well.

This is an interesting design. I think it would be even better if the receiver was one piece. this would make home assembled AKs more practical. Thx. Ace

It's a very interesting design concept and offers several improvements to the Kalashnikov platform, but I don't see myself handing over $1000 or so for one.

Shouldn't be too much trouble, although much nicer - a Galil is still an AK

It looks like two pieces bolted together. I'm not sure if that is a good idea.

actually, its majority standard AK internals. You can even buy thier receiver, and simply strip down your existing AK and 'convert' it. Pretty cool, huh.

    'About Us'

    DX-7 Design Philosophy
The DX-7 was conceptualized as an enhancement to the AK style rifle by only redesigning the components that did not function as optimally as possible. To keep to this simple design philosophy we strived to retain as many of the stock moving components as possible. Adding an upper and lower receiver greatly improved the ability to mount modern optics and other furniture compromising functionality. The DX-7 is enjoyable to operate as it incorporates an ergonomic thumb actuated safety lever and your hand goes to the natural location on the left side for charging while changing magazines. The ability to run a magnifying scope or red dot without any compromise is a huge improvement over the stock AK receiver. Design of the DX-7 has taken over two years and traversed multiple iterations of testing and redesign to reach our final product goals. We have taken our time to ensure the most durable and functional firearm system with very little compromise.

    From FAQ:

Can I take apart my AK-47 and reassemble with your receiver?

Yes, you can de-mill your current rifle and complete a few simple modifications to add the DX-7 upper and lower receiver. See required modifications.

    Receiver alone, $429 MSRP + MOD's listed

Kinda what I was thinking. I wonder,,though; if it HAS to be Alum or whether or not a steel stamping or milling could be used?I know that a forged trunnion is part of it so....

Grendel would make sense, same bolt as 7.62x39mm. Serbia already has a rifle chambered to it.
