Re: Inter-Ordinance AK-47 (clone) NIB $450 Shipped
I hate to say it but aside from the Century Tantal build fiasco(5.45 chamber, but a 5.56 bore size)and the very bad metallurgy in earlier production RAS 47's(I don't know if they've fixed those issues since 2016)and BCG on the C39V2's they actually DO have a (slightly) better record. Their Hungarian builds(AK63D and AK63 DS)as well as an AKMS build they had are a bit better than" good for the money". Same as their Bulgarian AK74 builds and their old M70AB2.. the VZ2008 as well..but I honestly don't know if they were built in house or contracted out. Still, good to very good.
I O,OTOH;did better as importers vs builders(same as Century).. unlike Century, their AK builds are consistently VERY bad..cast front trunnions without real heat treating. Rivets backing out. Rifles that require an afterthought of a buffer at the rear of the BCG.. many recorded incidents of failure on durability, but IO seems determined to sell a bad quality product.Gregory Peter DuPont

And the Century Israeli Golani rifle build fiasco, not including the firing pin replacement. I thought Century could not muck up a Kalashnikov series rifle but they did. They intentionally sized the rifle to use a worn mag that they included with the rifle but normal mags I was not able to get to fit and if they did fit they often did not feed correctly until I sent it back for the firing pin fix.“I have a Right to my Life; I have a Right to the Fruits of my Labor. If you concede the principle of the Income Tax, you concede the principle that the government owns ALL your income and permits you to keep a certain percentage of it.”

At least James River Armory and a few others are starting to do good builds(like Atlantic with the Polish builds).
I wish I would go back to just importing . And that Century would bring in more Romanian stuff. Or SOMEONE would get a massive import order of forged Polish front trunnions and other sundriesGregory Peter DuPont

AKs are a simple design. The problem is this: at LEAST a couple of US builders see the reduced imports as an opportunity to make a profit. I have no issue with that. I DO have issues with someone thinking they can make 5 years profit in six months...and do so by regarding VERY basic and important standards and production steps as " unnecessary"... And thinking so little of their target customers that they assume none of them have any prior hands on experience with the real thing...or the ability to read...or learn.Gregory Peter DuPont

True. Decent AKs , until recent events ;were above entry/mid grade AR rifles in price.
Nowadays:Best value for AKs remains the imports:As Southern Shark stated before,if money is no object;the Arsenal milled builds are awesome. SltAltho theyvth had some recent QA with some stamped builds.
Cugir/Romarm IMPORTED (not 100%Century built) Draco. Followed by currently imported WASR 10 . Followed by Zastava M92 . Followed by OPAP(got spendier due to demand &less availability) . Followed by NPAP underfolder. NPAP stzndsta in last place
Yes-there are SOME US builds that are worth the effort. Atlantic has had some good deLsd, but again certain key parts from overseas make for better builds, with US AK barrels still catching up in quality.
