I picked up a Milled Arsenal AK. It’s fitted with collapsible stock etc. I discovered it was originally a thumbhole stock from the late 90’s. Question is since it was imported under the crime control act am I required to return it to its original configuration? Also if I chose to put a side folding stock on it (if this is legal) it is my understanding that it has to be a U.S. made stock. Is this correct?

After much homework I can answer my own question. Since the so called “crime control bill” is no longer in effect, you can do whatever you please as long as it is legal in your location and complied with 922r. That being said I will be selling an underfolder stick kit if anybody wants one. Just message or email me. -

If you are worried about it, all you have to do is add some US made parts. Buy a trigger pack (hammer, dis-connector, etc...) and put US made furniture on it. It probably got converted with all that in the first place. Look and see if you can figure out where the furniture on the AK was made.

After a great deal of pain and suffering and research I came across an article Cheaper Than Dirt put out. You have to have 6 of ATF’s listed parts made in the US before you make your A K look “evil.” I’ll try to find the article again and post a link here. Next problem is finding a butt stock that fits the stupid angle cut receiver with a single upper tang without paying out the nose for it. If I knew it was gonna cost an arm and a leg to make it compliant I coulda bought a PSL and saved money!Comment

Yeah that's what I already told you.... just without a blog.
Redstar arms makes the best internal parts, which is why I posted the link to the site.
I also said to check to see where the parts already on it were made.... Whoever converted it probably already did that. But if it doesn't say made in USA or by a US company, then you should replace the parts.Comment

I'm not even sure it's applicable to end users, to be honest. I think it's more of a law for gun importers/distributors/dealers etc... So no I've never heard of anyone being prosecuted. But it's cheap to just buy the parts.Originally posted by DaveBob View PostComment
