Why is Jesus such a controversial leader?? That is my question people. I am curently attending Massey University in NewZealand and need to write a paper on leaders who have had a large influence in society in good and bad ways. I was thinking of writing about Nelson Mandela or someone like that, but I thought who better to write about than Jesus himself, so any help, opinions, or ideas that any of you good god fearing people, (or not) might have please dont be shy to write them as it would be much appreciated. Thanks to all god bless.

Mainly because a lot of what he teaches goes against mans sinfull nature.
Humans dont like being told were bad folks and need to improve.
Rulers see the church as an opponent for power in many parts of the world.
A lot of evil men have done bad things they said were in the name of God.
Going back to his time the Jews wanted a war leader another David to deliver them and when they didnt get it many turned there back on the Lord.
Jesus wasnt what many wanted and didnt say what many wanted to hear so he was put to death.

In short, because he claimed to be the Son of God.
Lots of religions and religionists will acknowledge Him as teacher, good man, prophet, etc. Except those labels (while all true) claim Him to be something other what He said Himself to be. So He either is or is not what He claimed to be. There is no in-between.
His resurrection, BTW, is one of the best documented events in history. It proves His diety. And "they" know it. And can't do anything about it. So their primary tool is obfuscation and various attempts to water-down and confuse the issue or make it appear as if there is some controversy surrounding Him.

Hey dont sweat it pal,..even the modern church denies CHRIST,....the reason you ask?......Because HE was/is Very GOD.
Concentrate on the Gospel of John for the answer to the reason I just gave you.
-----------------------
Also let it be known to you that many denominations will teach and preach what they call the "GOSPEL", when all they are actualy saying is come to the altar and believe in JESUS,.....
The Churches forget to preach on keeping HIS commandments,....they say all you need to do is believe,...HE said; IF you love me,..keep My commandments,..and also; Why ye call me LORD and do not what I say?
Is it any wonder the world only thinks of HIM as a good TEACHER?
Brother,..HE is our Creator,...He is our Salvation,...HE is our LORD/YHVH,...yet we ignore HIS actual commandments and Teachings.

Why is Jesus such a controversial leader??
Because the truth is always controversial. It exposes the liars and the father of lies.
