  • Underwater Nuclear Explosion in South china Sea

There has been "An Incident" in the South China Sea -- UPDATE 11:17 PM EST: RADIATION DETECTED!!!!

Oceanographic instruments monitoring the South China Sea have reportedly registered a significant undersea EXPLOSION.

Details are sketchy as of 6:22 PM eastern US time, but military sources are saying an explosion took place at a depth of approximately 50 Meters, which caused an underwater shock wave of such sudden presence, and of such strength, that the explosion itself "had to be between 10 and 20 Kilotons." Those sources (military) also say explicitly "An earthquake has been ruled out."

United States submarines routinely operate in that area of the world's oceans.

If an explosion of that magnitude took place, it could reek havoc with the submarine(s) and their instruments; perhaps forcing them to leave an area, or perhaps put into port for re-calibration or repairs.

There is nothing in the area of the South China Sea which, on its own, can account for such a possible event.

    UPDATE 11:17 PM EST --

Radiation is now being detected at shore monitoring points around the South China Sea!

According to this official map from the uRADMonitor Global Environmental Monitoring Network, "significant" radiation readings are now registering on their radiation monitors, shown on the map below:

Did China detonate a small, tactical, nuclear device to send a warning to the United States over the US Senate and US House approving the Hong Kong Democracy Act, which China views as an "assault" upon China's internal affairs? Has China had enough of US "freedom of navigation" exercises in the South China Sea? Is China feeling the sting of economic downturn from its Trade War with the USA, and are they "upping-the-ante" signaling actual war?

I'm as cynical as all get out about "official" explanations and denials, but there has to be something for them to explain or deny first.

There was a Whale out there who did a Swalwell Fart. So now we are supposed to panic? I don't think so.

I think the likely culprit could be a Jin-class submarine. It's a noisy missile sub that stays for the most part in or close to Chinese territorial waters. It launches up to 12 JL-2 Submarine Ballistic Missiles. Each weapon purportedly is a 1 Megaton warhead. If it's not properly armed then you don't get complete combustion of the nuclear fuel which means lower yield. The warhead is only going to be armed preparatory to an authorized release and deployment of the weapon. If the missile rocket motors were to activate inside the closed launcher while the sub is cruising underwater, bad things happen.

Nope, they are busy with the 'impeachment'. Our major media is busy with what THEY consider important.

Completely apart from anything else, we'd have raised the Defcon level two or three notches by now. If that hasn't happened, it ain't a thing.

If it were one of ours, the Chinese would already be hard at work making sure that everyone knew about it. As far as I know, the Norks are still fiddling with their one experimental missile sub.

'DEFCON' levels get raised and lowered all the time and the civilians know nothing about it. The only time they would know is if the **** was about to really hit the fan and the reserves and National Guard were activated totally.

In September but reported on in October, a Jin class submarine suddenly surfaced amongst some Vietnamese fishing boats in an are near the Paracel Islands. One theory was that a technical issue might have forced the sub to surface.

This would be near the indicated area.
