I talked to my local gun store/C&R guy and I'm goin for it. I guess this is a good deal and the pistols are rather solid. Ammo prices are great too! I'll report back in 7 to 10 days with some sort of report.

They're pretty nice pistols for the money. Beware though, the one's that Sarco has now are pretty rough cosmetically. They are down to the bottom of the barrel on these. They are in decent mechanical shape, but will have rust and little bluing left. They are great for a project gun, especially if you do your own bluing or parkerizing. 9mm Largo can be reloaded with standard 9mm dies as long as you use a 223 shell holder to fit the smaller rim on the 9mm largo. Srarline has the brass for it, and you can get performance almost as good as the Colt 38 Super. They are a fun gun and cartridge to play with. They make a heck of a nice "truck gun".

Thinking of having it hard chromed.

I searched AW and found all of the good links for chroming. Thinking of www.mahovskysmetalife.com. I'll have to wait and see what the condition is to get an accurate estimate but I think this would definitely help with the corrosive clean up.

that's whatI was thinkin! I know it would cost more than the gun itself to have done, but it will look nice and clean up well.

G-96 Gun Blue work great on Stars. http://www.g96.com/miva/merchant.mv?..._Code=Gun+Blue
Some cold blues work better on certain gun metal than others. This stuff works great on the Stars, Argentine Sistemas and Ballester guns.

This may be the more cost efective way to go here. Although, I do like the chrome for the corosive ammo. I'll have to see how good/bad the thing is when I get it.

Thanks!

I sand blasted one once, gave it a good going over with steel wool, cold blued with the G-96, and got a nice looking matt blue finish that almost matched the military finish that came on the Star Super A. You might want to give that a try if you want to save some serious bucks on the gun. It's worth a shot. If you don't like the result's you can always have it plated. You'll like the G-96 though. Works great on lots of things.

Just a note for AKrazy.

You have to remember that arkyboy is almost as old as I am.

He hasn't been married nearly as long, but he has figured out the same thing I have. Once you hit a certain age, women are something that you can take, or leave.

But firearms are forever. There's not a female in the world that I'd spend the weekend with if I could get an FN 5.7 instead. (Well, for the 5.7 you might have to throw in a couple hundred rounds of ammo, too.)

Buy a firearm, and find a woman who likes to shoot it as much as you do. Then you'll be set for life.

But you best plan on reloading a lot, if you find one like that. But it sounds like a plan to me!

I ordered it on the 20th and am still waiting
My FFL guy has been pretty busy. I'm hoping it's there and he just hasn't unpacked it yet. Sarcoinc ignored my request for a tracking number that I emailed them last Thursday. As I mentioned above, the anticipation is killing me! At least I have some corrosive clean up and a soar shoulder to keep me smiling form yesterdays fun with my K98. Definately one of my new favorites!

Yeah, Sarco can be a little slow. I like the company, and what they have to offer, but I have to remind myself every time I order from them that this is going to take a while.

I need to keep my temper and not let Sarcoinc get the better of me. I just spoke to their operator who informed me that the ammo would not be out for another week because they had to ship it from their other warehouse.
I was then put through to the gun department where I was told that they should be shipping out my Star today perhaps. Thy weren't sure because "they didn't need" my info to look it up. I told them I ordered it on 1/25 and they said they didn't ship it last week, but it should be going out today or tomorrow.
At least I know about when it's comming and I'm not wondering all week long if today is the day I get the call. Did I mention that I can be slightly impatient?

Sarcoinc just called me and asked if I would like to pay an extra $7 to have my Star shipped overnight. I asked when exactly overnight was seeing as how I ordered it 1/20. They tell me it will be shipped towards the end of next week. I suggested that they should be offering that service to me complimentary seeing as how they completely missed the date that they were supposed to have it to me by. I let them know that such a gesture would insure future business as well as make up for their tardiness that I would have not known about unless I checked into it myself. They agreed and i will have overnight shipping....many nights from now.
