Default Lorenzoni 7 Shot Repeating Flintlock Pistol

How this thing cycles/works is pretty darn interesting.

This amazing handgun is a masterpiece of Seventeenth Century engineering and metalworking. The Lorenzoni pistol can, hypothetically, fire seven shots before reloading. Watch the video to see how this magnificently machined device cycled.

The system was designed by an Italian gunmaker in Florence name Michele Lorenzoni. They were made in very small numbers, and the workmanship is stunning, especially considering that they were first manufactured in the 1680s.

Instead of using a revolving cylinder pre-loaded with multiple shots, the Lorenzoni system utilizes powder and ball magazines in the frame of the gun and a rotating breechblock much like a powder throw tool used today for reloading ammunition.

I wonder what it cost for one of these way back then? I can see weeks if not months of work necessary.

I would guess that it was easily ten times what another common pistol of its day would cost.

That's a good point. I'd say only the really rich could afford one. That thing is basically a repeating fire weapon in the 1680s, a couple of hundred years before the Civil War. Compared to other weapons of the time would probably be like comparing a full auto to a single action revolver today.
